The Northwoods United Way and the Rhinelander Ice Association are happy to announce the winners of the 2019 Shoeders RV & Marine Hodag Musky Challenge.  The tournament was held on 5 lake groups in the Rhinelander area on September 21st and 22st, 2019.  102 teams competed at a chance for over $20,000 in cash prizes.

“We were pleased to have this tournament in our area again this year.  Not only did the 204 anglers have a good time competing for the prize money, they also contributed to our 2 local non-profit agencies”, states Nancy Sattler, Executive Director for the Northwoods United Way.  “We also had a great night at Fridays rule meeting with raffle prizes, food, and the chance to look at 15 boats that our title sponsor, Shoeders RV & Marine brought over to the RIA.  Saturday we met at Rockys Roadhouse to share fish stories, look at pictures of the fish that were caught that day, and to check out the current standings on the board”

“Saturdays weather conditions were ideal for the tournament anglers.  37 musky were registered on Saturday which is the most on a single day in recent tournament history”, states Brett Aylesworth, Rink Manager Rhinelander Ice Association.  “We are already looking forward to next years tournament, and are making plans to grow the event.”

1st Place went to Dan Gropengiser and Jerrod Haenel of Rhinelanderwith four fish, all on Crescent (40”, 40.25”, 42.25” and 46”)    2nd Place, also with four fish went to Tim  Buffington of Tomahawk and his partner Scott Britt of iowa.  Chad Nelson and Andy Smits of Gillett took third.  Dan Brekke and Mick Miller took the largest pike (35.5”)
